Charity Kickball Tournament
Kick It for Pickett was first organized in 2015 in memory of Grand Chute Fire Prevention Specialist, Jesse Pickett. In December of 2013 Jesse was the sole casualty of a tragic car accident, also involving his wife and children.
Jesse was very passionate about fire prevention and fire safety education. His duties included conducting fire inspections, maintaining the department’s official social media outlets and securing additional funding for Grand Chute Fire through statewide and national grants. Jesse frequently conducted public education sessions throughout the town of Grand Chute. “Fireman Jesse” was a frequent visitor to area schools, working to educate students on basic fire safety. The Pickett Fire Safety and Community Fund was established to carry on Jesse’s legacy by supporting charitable causes in fire prevention, safety education and disaster relief. 2019 will be our fifth annual Kick it for Pickett Charity Kickball Tournament. Net proceeds from the tournament help to build the fund, increasing the amount of annual distributions that can be made. These distributions will benefit fire science students in the form of scholarships, Wisconsin fire departments in the way of grants for equipment & education or natural disaster relief. To date the fund grown to nearly $35,000 and given over $3,000 in distributions. This year's tournament will be held Saturday, May 11th at Palisades Park Menasha, WI. Proceeds raised from this fun filled event will benefit The Pickett Fire Safety and Community Fund. Start forming your teams of 8 to 12 players now, with a minimum of four men and four women on each team and players ages 12 and up. $20 per player includes entry into the tournament and a t-shirt for all players. Food and soft drinks will be sold this year. We also need volunteers to help as referees, registration, score keepers, bracketing and other support positions. |
